Goodlette, Fischler to receive Foundation Medals of Honor
Rep. Dudley Goodlette and Dr. Abraham Fischler will receive The Florida Bar Foundation’s Medal of Honor Awards at its annual dinner June 23 at the Orlando World Center Marriott in conjunction with the Bar’s Annual Meeting.
The Foundation will also pay tribute to the late Henry Latimer, the Broward County Board of Governors member who died in a car accident in January. The Latimer tribute will be presented jointly by The Florida Bar and the American College of Trial Lawyers.
The Foundation’s board of directors also will meet at 2 p.m. on June 23 and a reception honoring Foundation Fellows and members will begin at 6:30 p.m. The awards dinner will begin at 7:30 p.m..
Rep. Dudley Goodlette, R-Naples, will be recognized for spearheading the passage of the Florida Civil Legal Assistance Act. Dr. Fischler, president emeritus of Nova Southeastern University, will be honored in the nonlawyer category for “turning the dreams of countless people into realities through his intellect, commitment, drive and spirit,” according to the Foundation.
