Tom Ervin, left, and Jesse DinerFLORIDA BAR CENTER COMMISSION member Tom Ervin, left, and Bar President Jesse Diner hold a $1.3 million check, derived from rent proceeds, before it was sent to Bank of America to pay off the mortgage on The Florida Bar’s Annex building in Tallahassee. The 60,000- square-foot annex was purchased in 1988 during the administration of Bar President Ray Ferrero to accommodate future growth at the Bar’s headquarters. Over the past 20 years, Lawyer Regulation, Legal Publications, the Henry Latimer Center for Professionalism, Ethics and Advertising, Information Technology, Certification, UPL, and Client Security Fund staff have moved into the structure. It also has a large multipurpose room where CLE seminars are regularly conducted and where the Board of Governors meets when it is in town. The Bar now occupies three of the building’s four floors. Only one commercial tenant remains, the Florida Healthy Kids Corporation. “It is a great facility,” Diner said. “It’s great to have it free and clear.”
