Commission on Access to Civil Justice to meet in Tampa May 15

The second meeting of the Florida Commission on Access to Civil Justice is set for May 15 — from 1 p.m to 5:45 p.m. — at the Tampa Airport Marriott.

The commission is working to develop strategies to increase “meaningful and informed” access to civil justice, especially for Floridians who are disadvantaged, poor, or have moderate incomes with legal needs that must be addressed.

The commission’s goal is to bring the public and private sectors together to improve existing programs and identify innovative solutions.

At its first meeting in January, the Commission’s 27 members divided into five subcommittees, which will present reports to the full Commission during Friday’s meeting. The subcommittees are Access to and the Delivery of Legal Services, Continuum of Services, Funding, Outreach, and Technology.

The meeting will be broadcast on
the Florida Supreme Court’s online video portal Gavel to Gavel.
