North Dade Bar supports LSGM’s new lawyer referral service

South Florida’s newest lawyer referral service is designed to “bridge the gap” for individuals who require legal assistance in specific legal areas but do not meet the requirements for free legal aid services and do not have the resources to hire a private attorney.

Jason Neufeld All cases referred by Legal Services of Greater Miami, Inc., will be handled on a reduced-fee or contingency basis. Participating attorneys must also agree to provide a free 30-minute consultation.

North Dade Bar Association President Jason Neufeld supported LSGMI’s efforts to start the referral service and agreed to encourage members of the NDBA to sign up.

“I have always admired the quality of representation LGSMI provides some of the most disadvantaged in South Florida,” said Neufeld. “I am proud that now, instead of turning away those who do not meet their income threshold or fall within their case priorities, the North Dade Bar Association can help LSGMI connect them to quality attorneys.”

Lawyers with experience handling cases involving personal injury, wills and estates, mortgage foreclosure defense, and bankruptcies may apply to participate in the referral service. The application can be found on the LSGMI website and at North Dade Bar Association website.

Interested lawyers must be in good standing with The Florida Bar, confirm at least $100,000 in professional-liability insurance, and submit an application along with a check for $500 (annual membership) to Legal Services of Greater Miami, Inc., Lawyer Referral Service, ATTN: Vivian Chavez, 11285 S.W. 211 Street, Suite 302, Miami 33189.

“We are very grateful to the North Dade Bar for working with us to expand access to justice,” said LSGMI Executive Director Marcia K. Cypen.
