THE NORTH COUNTY SECTION of the Palm Beach County Bar is presenting a course at Florida Atlantic University in Jupiter titled “Law in the Real World.” Each week a lecture is provided by an attorney regarding his or her particular area of practice. “The course is designed to introduce the students to the various legal specialties using real world stories to illustrate how the law affects both their personal and professional lives,” said Michael Slavin, chair of the North County Section’s Education Committee. “This is also a great opportunity for pre-law students to gain a better understanding of the various specialties before entering law school.” The section also assisted FAU in its moot court course by providing attorneys to help judge the students before a national competition. Pictured is paralegal Debra Gerstemeier of McHale & Slavin in Palm Beach Gardens, working with intern Celine Rodriguez from FAU’s Honors College. Rodriguez is majoring in “Law and Society.”
