AT THE DADE COUNTY BAR’S Pro Bono Luncheon kicking off “One Client, One Attorney, One Promise,” the Volunteer Lawyers’ Project for the U.S. Southern District of Florida presented three certificates of appreciation to attorneys named “Champions of Justice” for contributing significant pro bono hours representing indigent clients before the U.S. District Court for the S.D. Florida. Pictured from the left are Ben Reid of Carlton Fields; U.S. District Court Judge Adalberto Jordan, who presented the certificates; and Matthew Mazzarella and Francisco Ramos of Clarke Silverglate & Campbell. Reid and Carlton Fields were honored for the firm’s donation of free office space to house the Volunteer Lawyers’ Project and the Florida Justice Institute and Reid’s taking of two significant federal lawsuits. Mazzarella and Ramos were honored for taking a pro se litigant’s lawsuit at the last moment and obtaining a substantial jury verdict.
