T rial Court Staff Attorneys gather

The Florida Trial Court Staff Attorneys Association, a voluntary bar organization comprised of judicial staff attorneys throughout Florida, recently met for its 16th annual conference in Orlando, where more than 130 staff attorneys attended the two-day event.

In addition to trial court staff attorneys, staff attorneys from each of the five district courts of appeal attended.

This year’s conference included substantive seminars on civil, criminal, and appellate issues, all of which were taught by jurists and experienced practitioners. Members also engaged in an “idea exchange” to gather information about the “best practices” for the circuits and district courts of appeal to uniformly handle legal issues.

The association elected its new board of directors for 2016, including: Michael Rosenberg of the 17th Circuit, president; Joseph D’Amico of the 17th Circuit, president-elect; Melissa Condon Onacki of the First Circuit, treasurer; and Crystal Ecker of the Third Circuit, secretary. Also elected to serve as representatives for each of the five district courts of appeal are: Melissa Hamilton, First DCA representative; Jennifer Mooney, Second DCA representative; Darlene Corey, Third DCA representative; Elisha Page, Fourth DCA representative; Christine Moser, Fifth DCA representative; and Tarysha Henry, representative at-large.
