Heart of Giving event planned for May 16

On May 16, Legal Services of Greater Miami will celebrate the fourth year of the “Together, We Must” Campaign for Justice – Continuing the Promise and acknowledge the South Florida community that has supported the organization’s efforts to ensure that low-income individuals and families have advocates to speak for them and protect their rights.

The private reception will be held from 5-6 p.m. and the main event will be held from 6-9 p.m. at the Gary Nader Fine Art Gallery on Northeast 27th Street in Miami.

Tagged “The Heart of Giving,” the evening will be launched with a reception and silent auction to showcase the evening.

The Campaign for Justice, co-chaired by Raoul Cantero, Tracy Nichols, and Bob Parks, was created to raise community awareness about and support for Legal Services of Greater Miami, in order to keep the doors of justice open to low-income Americans as traditional funding for legal services declines.

“We must ensure that access to our nation’s system of justice — a cornerstone of our society — does not become a luxury,” said Marcia K. Cypen, LSGMI executive director. “Local community support will help LSGMI keep the promise of equal justice in both good times and bad.”

The event is open to the public. Tickets are $100 per person. There is no cost for members of the judiciary. To learn more, visit www.lsgmi.org.
