Gainesville Mayor Craig LoweTHE EIGHTH JUDICIAL CIRCUIT Bar Association, the EJCBA YLD, the Josiah T. Walls Bar Association, the Clara Gehan Association for Women Lawyers, and the North Central Florida Chapter of the Federal Bar Association hosted the North Central Florida Diversity Forum in conjunction with the University of Florida’s Multicultural Fair — made possible in part by a Diversity Leadership Grant from The Florida Bar. The free forum included a keynote address from Gainesville Mayor Craig Lowe, above, on “Coming Together to Work Through Differences;” a panel discussion on legal community service projects to promote unity within the profession; and an interactive training designed to help lawyers work across cultural divides. A portion of the grant proceeds also went to support the “Street Law” program, initiated by the Josiah T. Walls Bar and the UF Black Law Student Association, and to support the Center for Children and Families at the University of Florida Levin College of Law’s efforts to reduce disproportionate minority participation in the criminal justice system.
