NOVA SOUTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY law student Lauren Speno meets with Mitchell Berger of Berger Singerman at an NSU mentoring picnic. More than 70 attorneys and judges from the Broward County Bar Association attended the mentoring picnic at the Shepard Broad Center at NSU in Ft. Lauderdale. The picnic provided law students the opportunity to network and receive mentoring from practicing lawyers and judges. Nearly 200 people attended the event, including Broward Judges Paul Backman, Robert Diaz, Joel Lazarus, Jeffrey Levenson, Linda Pratt, and Arlene Simon. “Our students were able to actively engage attorneys in conversation, and many students paired up with mentors who can provide them with guidance in the future,” said Robert Levine, assistant dean for career development at the Shepard Broad Law Center. The picnic was co-hosted by the NSU Law Alumni Association and the Shepard Broad Law Center Career Development Office.
