Matt G. Firestone and James C. Washburn have joined Shuffield, Lowman & Wilson in Orlando. Firestone joins as a partner focusing on real estate, contract, and business-related matters. Washburn joins as of counsel. Washburn is a board certified construction lawyer assisting those in the construction industry with contract drafting and negotiation, bid protests, scheduling and construction defect claims, default terminations, licensing issues, and lien and bond disputes.

Douglas H. Morris has joined Gordon & Doner in Davie. Morris focuses on medical malpractice, nursing home neglect, catastrophic injury, and wrongful death matters.

B. Michael Clark, Jr., and Nicholas D. Siegfried have been named partners of Siegfried, Rivera, Hyman, Lerner, De La Torre, Mars & Sobel in Coral Gables. Clark focuses on construction law and Siegfried focuses on construction and community association law.

Kurt A. Hoffman, general counsel for the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office, was recently promoted to the rank of colonel and will serve as the chief deputy.

Richard D. Lara has become managing shareholder of Mase Lara in Miami.

Robert B. Lamm has rejoined Gunster, in Ft. Lauderdale as of counsel. He will co-chair the securities and corporate governance practice. He also joins the firm’s corporate and health care law practices.

Bruce M. Lyons of Lyons and Sanders has relocated his offices to 110 S.E. 6th Street, Suite 2150, Ft. Lauderdale. Lyons focuses on criminal law.

Emily E. Collins has joined Xact Data Discovery as a legal project manager, overseeing Xact’s managed review operations in Kansas City.

Melanie Ann Parris has joined Roig Lawyers in Coral Gables. Parris concentrates on first-party property insurance defense and representing financial institutions in consumer debt litigation.

Christopher Marsala and Scott Rowland have joined McLaughlin & Stern, as partners and Jeffrey Glassover as of counsel and announce the opening of the firm’s Naples office at 5051 Tamiami Trail North, Suite 602.

Clarke & Platt has relocated its offices to 1920 Palm Beach Lakes Blvd., Suite 202, West Palm Beach 33409. The firm focuses on workers’ compensation defense.

Erica Gooden and Alyse Latour have joined Holland & Knight in Tampa as associates. Gooden joins the litigation section and represents clients in commercial litigation matters. Latour joins the public companies and securities group and advises clients in mergers and acquisitions, public offerings and private placements of securities, venture capital investments, and other business transactions.

Christine L. Weingart has joined Zimmerman Kiser Sutcliffe in Orlando, practicing in the areas of tax and general business law.

Brent McNeal has joined the Florida Department of Education in Tallahassee as deputy general counsel, overseeing legal services for the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation and the Division of Blind Services.

O’Connell focuses on the representation of condominium and homeowners’ associations.

Derek P. Rooney has joined GrayRobinson in Naples. Rooney practices in land use and local government law, and is board certified in city, county, and local government law.

Bonnie S. Klapper has become of counsel to Clarke Silverglate in Miami. Klapper focuses on white collar criminal defense.

D. Porpoise Evans has joined Perlman, Bajandas, Yevoli & Albright in Miami as a partner. Evans focuses on litigation and compliance, including ADA and FHA litigation, employment counseling and litigation, FCPA compliance and investigations (with an emphasis on African countries), and securities litigation, including FINRA arbitrations.

J. Cameron Thurber has been promoted to deputy inspector general at the Federal Election Commission in Washington, D.C. He will oversee the legal, investigative, and audit operations of the Office of Inspector General.
