GREENBERG TRAURIG in Miami helped to ensure that students of the Downtown Miami Charter School began the school year with much needed school supplies and motivation. The firm held a school supply drive that raised over $22,000 to benefit DMCS. Greenberg Traurig Chair Cesar L. Alvarez, President Matthew B. Gorson, and Miami Co-managing Shareholder Jaret L. Davis, above, visited the school on August 23 to distribute supplies to the students and lead a discussion about the importance of hard work and education. The proceeds generated from the drive were used, in part, to purchase 1,300 composition books — two for each student — and fulfill the complete list of supply requests from 18 students who have historically struggled either academically or behaviorally. The remainder was donated directly to DMCS, whose board of directors will allocate the funds to the programs with the highest priority.
