Sharon B. Middleton, a nurse from Ponte Vedra Beach, will join The Florida Bar Board of Governors as a public member.

Sharon B. Middleton Middleton, who was appointed by the Supreme Court in April, will be sworn in June 17 at the Bar’s Annual Convention for a two-year term. She is replacing public member Anthony Holloway of St. Petersburg, whose second two-year term expires in June.

Middleton is a registered nurse and certified health education specialist. Middleton’s interest in the legal profession is not surprising. Her father, the late Edward M. Booth, was a member of The Florida Bar for more than 50 years. Middleton’s mother, the late Bonnie D. Booth, served on the Judicial Qualifications Commission for eight years.

“While Sharon did not become a lawyer, she learned much of what lawyers do to promote justice by watching her father, legendary criminal defense lawyer Eddie Booth from Jacksonville,” said Bruce Blackwell, CEO/executive director of The Florida Bar Foundation, who recommended Middleton for the board. “Sharon has strong people skills, a keen intellect, and genuinely cares for both our profession and the clients we serve as lawyers.”

Middleton currently is a member of the Bar’s Citizens Advisory Committee and served on the Unlicensed Practice of Law Standing Committee from 2013 to 2015.

“While serving The Florida Bar, I have had the opportunity to witness the dedication of the BoG members to the citizens of Florida and the Bar,” Middleton said.

She has a B.S. in nursing from Emory University and a master of science in health education from Florida State University.
