Jury instruction panel needs members

The Supreme Court Committee on Standard Jury Instructions in Criminal Cases is accepting applications for membership on the committee.

The committee is charged with updating the criminal jury instructions based on changes made to Florida law or opinions issued by the Florida district courts of appeal, the Florida Supreme Court, or the U.S. Supreme Court. The committee meets two to four times a year, usually in Tampa. All appointments are made by the chief justice.

Any lawyer licensed to practice law in Florida may apply for appointment. An application form for membership can be found at the Supreme Court’s website, www.floridasupremecourt.org/jury_instructions/index.shtml.

The deadline for submitting an application is December 16. Individuals who have previously submitted an application and are interested in serving should reapply. All interested parties are requested to submit a cover letter along with the application via email to schneidb@flcourts.org.
