One family law rule amendment and two new forms — dealing with the use of parenting coordinators in family law cases — have been endorsed by the Bar Board of Governors.
The board, at its September meeting, reviewed the proposals from the Family Law Rules Committee. Chair Jack Moring explained the amendment and forms were done in response to the Legislature’s passage earlier this year of Section 2 of Chapter 2009-180, Laws of Florida, which created §61.125, Florida Statutes, “Parenting Coordination.”
Rule 12.742 sets up the procedure for appointing a parenting coordinator while the new forms — 12.996 and 12.984 — are an order of referral to a parenting coordinator and response of a parenting coordinator, respectively.
The board recommended approval of the changes by a 38-0 vote. The rule and forms now go to the Supreme Court for its review.
