Joseph T. Eagleton was selected in June 2013 as the recipient of the 2012 Florida Bar Journal Excellence in Writing Award by the Journal & News Editorial Board for his article “Walking on Sunshine Laws: How Florida’s Free Press History in the U.S. Supreme Court Undermines Open Government,” which was published in the September/October 2012 issue of the Journal.
Each year, a committee of the Editorial Board selects a recipient for the award based on the writing quality, substance, difficulty, and style of the article.
Eagleton is a staff attorney for Justice Barbara J. Pariente of the Florida Supreme Court. He is a graduate of the University of Florida, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in political science, cum laude; a master’s degree in political science with a graduate certificate in political campaigning; and his J.D., cum laude.
