Executive Director John F. Harkness, Jr., has announced two vacancies on the Board of Governors of The Florida Bar. The first is due to the election of 17th Circuit board member Eugene K. Pettis as president-elect designate. Pettis was finishing out a two-year term ending June 28, 2013, on the board in Seat 3. The second vacancy is due to the resignation of 20th Circuit board member Scott Weinstein. Weinstein was also finishing out a two-year term ending June 28, 2013, on the board in Seat 2.
Pettis’ office commences on June 22 and continues for a term ending June 28, 2013, or until a successor is elected and qualifies. Weinstein’s replacement will begin service immediately upon conclusion of the election.
Pursuant to Rule 2-3.9, nominating petitions for the vacancy must be filed with the office of the executive director on or before 5 p.m., Tuesday, February 14. Election ballots will be mailed on or before Thursday, March 1, and voted ballots must be received prior to midnight, March 21.
Nominating petitions for the 17th Circuit, Seat 3, and 20th Circuit, Seat 2, vacancies must be signed by no fewer than five members in good standing whose official Bar address is in the appropriate judicial circuit.
