|11||The Orange County Bar Association (OCBA) 2013 Leadership Law class will be held from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (once monthly January through May) at the OCBA Center in Downtown Orlando. Leadership Law, a learning experience developed specifically for business managers and leaders of community-based organization by some of Central Florida's most highly regarded judges and attorneys, gives you opportunities to network with and learn from the best legal leaders in our local and state judicial system! In addition to interactive, seminar-style classes at the OCBA center in downtown Orlando, the program includes exclusive, behind-the-scenes tours of the Orange County Courthouse, the Federal Courthouse, the Juvenile Justice Center, and (by special invitation) the Medical Examiner's office. |11||The Labor & Employment Committee of the Dade County Bar Association will present "Recent Developments at the EEOC," from 12:30 p.m. - 2 p.m. in the 11th Floor Conference Room of the Lawson Thomas Courthouse Center in Miami. The speakers will be Robert E. Weisberg, Regional Attorney for the EEOC and Sherril M. Colombo, Partner, Wilson Elser. |15||The Dade County Bar Association Young Lawyers Section will host Lunch with the Family Court Judges: Justices Bernstein, Blake and Davis of the 11th Circuit (A Members-Only Event) to promote communication among the legal community and the judges. The luncheon will be held from 12-1:15 p.m. at the Bankers Club, Two Biscayne Blvd., 14th Floor in Miami. This luncheon is open to DCBA/YLS members and is limited to the first 30 members whose payment and reservation form are received. |15||The Dade County Bar Association's Business Law Committee will present "A Practical Guide to the Securities Laws" Part 3 (telephonic or live), with Alan H. Aronson speaking. This is the next segment of the seminar series; each future segment will be related, but independent of the other segments. |19||The National Bar Association will host its Inaugural Legacy Ball at 7 p.m. Location TBD. Since 2009, the Ball has been presented as a celebration centered on preservation of heritage, democracy and the democratic process. Entertainment will include live music, celebrity guests, open bar, refreshments, light hors d'oeuvres, and exquisite food will be served to guests. Approximately 400-500 attendees are expected for the event. The U.S. President, elected and administration officials will be invited to the event. |31||2013 Pro Bono Service Awards Ceremony - Each year, the Florida Supreme Court and The Florida Bar give special recognition to lawyers, groups and a member of the judiciary who have freely given their time and expertise in making legal services available to the poor. Among the awards presented is The Chief Justice's Voluntary Bar Association Pro Bono Service Award, which recognizes a voluntary bar association that has demonstrated a significant contribution in the delivery of legal services on a pro bono basis to individuals or groups that cannot otherwise afford the services. This award recognizes an extraordinary commitment to provide access to the courts for all Floridians.
