6.7The ABA Commission on Women and Young Lawyers Division will present the 2012 Women in Law Leadership Academy, that will be held at The Palace Hotel; 2 New Montgomery Street; San Francisco, CA. 11The Orange County Bar Association (OCBA) and LawReview CLE will co-host the major seminar, "Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Litigating a Case in Probate Court," from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the OCBA Center in Orlando. The fee is $75 and will include a continental breakfast. 13The Broward County Justice Association will salute the distinguished members of the judiciary at their Annual Judges' Night. There will be a special presentation in honor of our retiring judges as the BCJA recognizes their contributions. The event will be held in the Panorama Ballroom at Hyatt Regency Pier Sixty-Six, from 6-9 p.m. The cost to attend is $90, which includes 6 p.m. cocktails and dinner. There is no separate ticket for the cocktail hour only. The cost is $25 for law student to attend and complimentary for members of the judiciary (Please RSVP so we have your name tag). 14The Underwater Bar Association (“DiveBar”) is hosting its first annual holiday party, “Under The Sea,” from 5:30 - 10 p.m. at Quarterdeck Restaurant in Fort Lauderdale. The honorary guest speaker will be Judge Carlos Rodriguez, 17th Judicial Circuit and our honoree is Dr. Neil Hammerschlag of the University of Miami R.J. Dunlap Marine Conservation Program. Throughout the night guests will be able to place bids on a selection of silent auction items ranging from boat charters to performing arts tickets to destination vacations. Guests are encouraged to enter the featured drawing of the night for a chance to name DiveBar’s adopted shark and attend a shark research expedition in the Florida Keys. The shark expedition is part of Dr. Neil Hammerschlag’s Marine Conservation Program. Tickets for the drawing may be purchased in advance at www.thedivebar.org/party or on the night of the event. Free admission includes two drink tickets, appetizers and live music, however, attendance is limited to the first 250 guests. 14The Wilkie D. Ferguson, Jr. Bar Association, Caribbean Bar Association & Petit Cakes Bakery & Catering will host a Holiday Party & Fundraiser, 6 p.m. at the MOCA Cafe & Lounge in North Miami. The event will feature a complimentary Petit Cakes' Dessert Bar, a local artist showcase, cocktails & appetizer specials, live music and more. There is a $15 minimum donation or $10 (with the donation of a black doll or five (5) canned goods). 21The South/ West Broward Bar Associations will host their Second Annual South/ West Broward Bar Holiday Party at the Big Easy Bar & Grill in downtown Hollywood. beginning at 6 p.m. with cocktails and appetizers. Around 7:30 p.m., the party moves next door to Mickey Byrnes Irish Pub where a buffet style dinner will be served with Shepherd's Pie and Penne a la Vodka. Live music starts at both venues at 9 p.m. for anyone who wants to stay longer. Admission is $20 if registered prior to Dec. 21; $25 after that; and includes two drink tickets, appetizers and buffet-style dinner. Complimentary for judges. Additional drink tickets may be purchased for $5.00 each. Donations of unwrapped toys will be collected to benefit the Annual Adopt-A-Family Project created by Legal Aid Service of Broward County, in collaboration with their partner agency, Coast to Coast Legal Aid of South Florida. 21The Dade County Bar Association County Court Committee will present the 2012 PIP Reform - How It Will Impact All Of Us. The guest speakers will be Russell Lazega, Esq., Kevin W. Whitehead, Esq. and Rafael Katz, Esq. The seminar will be held from 12 noon - 2:30 p.m. at the North Dade Justice Center, 15555 Biscayne Boulevard, Courtroom 2-7, in Miami.
