Consumer Protection Law
The Consumer Protection Law Committee’s mission is to educate consumers and Bar members about consumer protection laws and current issues through such means as public outreach events, public service messages, CLE programs, consumer publications, non-partisan technical assistance memoranda on proposed legislation, and providing expert resources to The Florida Bar, the Judiciary, and the Legislature.
Introduction to the Practice of Consumer Law at The Florida Bar Annual Convention
The Consumer Protection Law Committee and the Public Interest Law Section are teaming up for a single-day CLE seminar for advocates new to consumer law. Introduction to the Practice of Consumer Law 
will cover basic concepts, ethical considerations and explore consumer law connections to all areas of practice. Among those presenting will be Ira Rheingold, executive director of the National Association of Consumer Advocates, Andrew Pizor, attorney with the National Consumer Law Center, and Gerald Sachs, Southeast Region Senior Counsel for Enforcement Strategy of the federal Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. The seminar, which will also be webcast live, is being held on Saturday, June 29, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Boca Raton Resort & Club. Registration to attend the seminar in Boca Raton is through Florida Bar convention registration.
