2010 - 2011 Committee Preference Form

Dear Colleague:

Our profession - now more than 86,000 strong in Florida - faces unprecedented and exciting challenges with the public and our members. Effectively responding to these challenges should be a combined effort of all Florida lawyers. The Florida Bar invites you to participate by completing and forwarding your committee preference form.

This is an opportunity to be involved in the work of The Florida Bar. Service on a Florida Bar committee is a demanding and important responsibility, yet meaningful and rewarding. It is an opportunity to participate in decisions that are important to our profession and to work with lawyers with similar interests.

Several factors will be considered in making committee appointments: prior service to The Florida Bar and voluntary Bar organizations; the need for new members; diversity in gender, ethnicity, geographics and areas of practice; previous levels of committee participation and contributions, and input from committee leadership.

If you are currently serving on a standing committee, please check The Florida Bar’s Web site to determine when your term expires. If your term expires in 2010, you must complete and submit your Committee Preference Form to be considered for reappointment.

If you are not currently on a standing committee but wish to be considered, please complete the form and return it before January 15, 2010. Your comments about your qualifications and interests will be particularly helpful in making these choices.

If you are serving on a substantive law committee and wish to continue to do so, you must complete and return the form by January 15, 2010 to retain membership on that committee.

You are encouraged to apply and may rest assured that you will reap the rewards of your efforts. We will do our best to accommodate as many applicants as possible and apologize in advance to those we are not able to appoint. If you are not appointed to the committee of your choice this year, please reapply next year.
