This course is designed to examine appellate practice before Florida's Fifth District Court of Appeal. The program will cover a broad range of topics, from the practical aspects of handling an appeal in this particular appellate court to how the clerk's office aids the court in processing cases to advice from the court's judges on traditional appellate topics such as brief writing, oral arguments, professionalism, and appellate ethics. The presenters will consist mostly of judges from the court, complemented by the clerk of court and highly skilled appellate practitioners. The program is designed to be highly informative for both the trial lawyer who occasionally handles an appeal and the dedicated appellate specialist.
