This up-to-the-moment seminar will include leading scientists, economists and attorneys who will present a primer on the law and science of the continuing release of oil resulting from the Deepwater Horizon failure and explosion in the Gulf of Mexico. Participants will hear experts on the available choices and the implementation of technologies for the containment and removal of petroleum, the ecological, human health and economic impacts of oil and the available judicial and administrative remedies. Among other topics, legal analysis of the key recent Florida Supreme Court pollution damages case of Curd v. Mosaic Fertilizer will be presented including counsel involved in the case. In addition, practitioners will receive first hand reports on the legal and practical issues being encountered by lawyers in the geographic areas impacted and discussion of how the legal community is reacting in pending business and real estate transactions.
