Governor Rick Scott has asked the Eighth Judicial Circuit Nominating Commission to seek applicants for the Eighth Judicial Circuit Court judicial vacancy created by the retirement of the Honorable Judge Martha A. Lott, Circuit Court Judge. The Eighth Judicial Circuit Nominating Commission seeks applications for nomination from all persons who meet the eligibility requirements set forth in the Florida Constitution.
Applicants must be able to fulfill the Constitutional qualifications before assuming the office of Circuit Court Judge, which require the person to be a member in good standing of The Florida Bar for the preceding five years, a resident of the Eighth Judicial Circuit and a registered voter in the State of Florida. The application may be downloaded from The Florida Bar's website.
The original application and 9 copies must be received by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 4, at Donnelly & Gross, P.A., ATTN: Paul Donnelly, Chair, 2421 NW 41st Street, Suite A-1, Gainesville, FL 32606.
Applications post-marked prior to Thursday, April 4 but received after this date will NOT be accepted. After the application deadline, the Nominating Commission will contact applicants to be interviewed to confirm a time, date and location.
All applications and all interviews and proceedings of the Commission, except for deliberations by the Commission, shall be open to the public, as required by law.
