FIRST CIRCUIT JUDICIAL NOMINATING COMMISSION ANNOUNCES ESCAMBIA COUNTY COURT JUDICIAL VACANCY

Governor Scott has declared a vacancy on the First Judicial Circuit, County Court, brought about by the retirement of Judge Thomas E. Johnson. Accordingly, the First Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission is now accepting applications for this vacancy.

Qualifications of Applicants:

Applicants must be able to fulfill the Constitutional qualifications before assuming the office of County Court Judge, which require the person to be a member in good standing of the Florida Bar for the preceding five (5) years, a resident of Escambia County, and a registered voter.

Instructions for Submission:

Application forms for the judgeship may be obtained from the Nominating Commission Chair, Joe Zarzaur, whose address and telephone number appears below. Applications can be downloaded from The Governor’s website by clicking the “Judicial” tab, www.flgov.com.

The Original completed application with attachments, one copy of the original with attachments that has the redactions required by Fla. R. Jud. Admin., a flashdrive with both original and redacted applications with attachments, and a recent photo must be delivered to Joe Zarzaur, Chairman, First Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission at the address below no later than noon on February 7, 2014. Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered.
