11th Circuit needs a judge

The 11th Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission is now accepting applications to fill a circuit vacancy resulting from the retirement of Judge Joel Brown.

Applicants must have been members of The Florida Bar for the preceding five years, registered voters, and must reside in the territorial jurisdiction of the court at the time of assuming office.

Applications may be downloaded from The Florida Bar’s website at
An original and nine copies of the completed application must be delivered to Marva L. Wiley, JNC Chair, 9999 NE 2nd Avenue, Suite 310, Miami Shores 33138 no later than 5 p.m., April 5. The inclusion of a photograph is encouraged.

Those who submitted an application for the vacancies that closed on September 7, 2012, may alternatively deliver a letter requesting the JNC consider their prior application. Applicants must, however, submit two additional copies of the prior application on or before the deadline set forth above.
