Lawyer dad is now the roadie
JEFF KEINER OF GRAYROBINSON in Orlando, a member of the Bar’s Entertainment, Arts & Sports Law Section, was in his study and picked up his old guitar and strummed a few licks. His daughter, Paige, asked him if he’d teach her to play. “She was off like a rocket after that,” Jeff said. Five years later, 18-year-old Paige, an honors student at Lake Highland Prep, has recorded many of the dozens of songs she has written, with a band that includes guitar, bass players, and a cellist, and she performs around the state. She recently released a single “Shame on Me,” on iTunes (or listen at http://www.jango.com/stations/356440481/tunein?l=0 )Sometimes, Jeff gets to relive his glory years of playing in bands in high school and college, by filling in as guitarist for his daughter’s band. “I’m mostly the roadie, the sound man, photographer, lighting engineer, producer, sometimes makeup artist,” Jeff said. “But I’m always dad.”
