With Clients becoming exceedingly more cynical about attorneys fees and the percieved unfairness of attorneys fees, most corporate clients attribute it to the hourly billing rate.
Groom suggests that billing hourly is inherently in conflict with client's goals and objectives and creates undue pressure on lawyers and paralegals to generate billable hours, resulting in overstaffing, excessive research,and "busy work".
