1. Set Your Permanent Password

In order to maximize security, use of the Bar Storefront requires a password. Each prospective user of the secure portions of www.floridabar.org must obtain a permanent password for the site. There are two ways in which a user may do so:

1a. METHOD 1 (5-7 days) : Request Setup Password Mailer via USPS > Set Password Online on Receipt

The Setup Password mailer contains a randomly generated password which must be used at first logon in order to set a Permanent Password known only to the user. These mailers are delivered via USPS to the mailing address shown on your Member record. Please confirm your mailing address using the Attorney Search feature before making your request.

To request a Setup Password mailer:

  • Go to www.floridabar.org.
  • Click Member Login (top navigation bar).
  • Click Password Request Form button.
  • Click Password Request Form again.
  • Enter your Bar Member # in the first blank. Enter your Admit Year in YYYY format. Enter your Birth Year in YYYY format.
  • Click Submit button.
  • You will receive a confirmation page if your request was completed successfully. If you are returned to the form, one or more of your inputs is incorrect. Review the information and re-submit.

In 5-7 days you will receive your Setup Password mailer via USPS at your record mailing address. Note that Setup Password mailers expire 45 days from issue. Make sure to complete instructions below before that deadline.

With Setup Password mailer in hand:

  • Go to www.floridabar.org.
  • Click Member Login (top navigation bar).
  • Enter your Bar Member # in the Username blank. Enter the Setup Password printed on your mailer in the Password blank.
  • Click Login button.
  • You will be prompted to change your Setup Password to a Permanent Password via a form containing 3 blanks:
  • Enter your Setup Password in the Old Password blank.
  • Choose a Permanent Password of at least 6 characters, where at least one character is numeric. Permanent Passwords are also case-sensitive, e.g. helpfile39 is not the same as HelpFile39.
  • Enter your Permanent Password in both New Password blanks.
  • Click Submit button.
  • You will receive a confirmation message and will be returned to www.floridabar.org.
  • You are logged in to the Storefront and may conduct Bar business at will.

1b. METHOD 2 (1 hour) : Complete SSN Form > Fax to Membership Records > Set Password Online

Contact Membership Records support at (866) 854-5050.

  • State that you wish to complete a Social Security Number / Password fax form. This fax form will be sent to your Bar record fax number.
  • Complete and return via fax to Membership Records at (850) 561-1141.
  • Membership Records will enter submitted information into a secure database.

In 1 hour, set your Permanent Password online:
  • Go to www.floridabar.org.
  • Click Member Login (top navigation bar).
  • Click Forgot Password button.
  • Click Set Password button.
  • Enter your Bar Member #, last 4 digits of your SSN.
  • Enter desired Permanent Password, making sure to adhere to listed criteria (at least six characters, with at least one number and one letter)
  • Click Submit button.

Note that users who have not submitted the last 4 digits of SSN may not use this method. The form will fail to validate against database information, and an error message will display.

1c. Special Notes

Florida Registered Paralegals (FRPs)

In 2009-10, FRPs are permitted to login to www.floridabar.org for secure transactions. To obtain a password, follow the same steps as above, substituting FRP # for Bar Member # as needed.

Note to Authorized House Counsel Members

Authorized House Counsel members are permitted to login to www.floridabar.org for limited secure transaction activity (may edit the Member Profile). Contact Melanie Woodall (UPL) at (850) 561-6757 with any questions.

Note to Those Who Desire Firm-Wide Passwords

Transactions must be completed using individual attorney Bar Member #s and passwords so that credit hours posted, fees paid, and other purchases are bound to the correct Member record. There is currently no "batch" processing capability for firm-wide transactions.

2. Login Using Your Permanent Password

Once you have set a Permanent Password, you may conduct Bar business at will.

From www.floridabar.org:

  • Click Member Login (top navigation bar).
  • Enter your Member # and Permanent Password.
  • Click Login button.
  • You will be returned to www.floridabar.org. At this point, you can conduct online Bar business such as CLE Review, Address Change, and Fee Payment.
If you receive an error message above the login entry fields, check your password and try once more. If you remain unable to sign in, contact Membership Records support (866) 854-5050 for assistance.

2a. Forgotten Passwords

If you have forgotten your Permanent Password, you may immediately reset and login if you have completed and returned the SSN Form to Membership Records. Complete these steps:

  • Go to www.floridabar.org.
  • Click Member Login (top navigation bar).
  • Click Forgot Password button.
  • Click Set Password button.
  • Enter your Bar Member #, last 4 digits of your SSN.
  • Enter desired Permanent Password, making sure to adhere to listed criteria (at least six characters, with at least one number and one letter)
  • Click Submit button.

If you have not completed and returned the SSN Form to Membership Records, you may choose either METHOD 1 (5-7 days) or METHOD 2 (1 hour) above in order to set another Permanent Password.

Note that if you elect to use METHOD 1, as soon as you request a new Setup Password mailer, a) pre-existing mailers are invalidated, and b) your existing (forgotten) Permanent Password is invalidated. You must wait for USPS delivery of the new Setup Password mailer, and set a new Permanent Password in order to use the site. Please be patient with the USPS delivery process, and do not request multiple new Setup Password mailers in rapid succession, as that will sequentially invalidate mailers en route.

3. CLE Status Inquiry

  • Click Member Login (top navigation bar).

4. CLE Course Search

From www.floridabar.org:

  • Click Member Profile
  • Click Register for CLE Courses
  • You will be delivered to the CLE Courses search form, which allows you to search using a number of factors: Title, City, Date, Sponsor, Course, Number, or a combination of these criteria.
Since each Member may need to search using different criteria, the search form is set up to deliver results based on the choices made at this point. For example, if your CLE deadline is fast-approaching, you may wish to search by Date. If, on the other hand, you are interested only in courses sponsored by your own Section, you should search by Sponsor. Each option is detailed below.

Search Navigation - A set of buttons: + Expand, - Collapse, < Previous and Next > are shown at the top and bottom of each page of search results. A blue triangle will show to the left of summarized results. A Search button will appear in the right upper corner of each page of search results. These buttons allow you to:

  • - to the left of summarized listings. Click blue triangle to show listed courses under a parent category, e.g. all courses to be held on a particular Date, or all courses provided by a particular Sponsor.
  • + Expand - on all results lists except By Title, Expand allows you to show all courses contained within particular categories of results. For example, if you search by Date, you'll see a summarized list of all Dates on which courses are to be held. If you click + Expand, you'll see a list of all courses to be held on each Date for each Date.
  • - Collapse - on all results lists except By Title, Collapse allows you to return to a summarized list of all courses contained within particular categories of results.
  • < Previous - go back to the previous page of listed courses.
  • Next > - go forward to the next page of listed courses.
  • - return to the CLE course search form at any time.

  • Once you find a course of interest, click More Information to view brochure.

4f. By Combination of Factors

On the search form, you will see a small 3-factor search feature. Using City, Course Subject, and Month factors allows you to more severely limit your results list.

For example, to find only those courses re: Criminal Practice to be held in Tampa in December:

  • Type city of interest to the right of City: e.g. Tampa
  • Type subject of interest to the right of Course Subject: e.g. Criminal
  • choose month of interest from the drop-down list to the right of Month: e.g. December
  • Click Search
  • You will be delivered to a list of courses that meet those criteria only. Assuming a matching course, you will see a Course Number link, and a Course Title. Note that a "No Courses Found" message is displayed on occasions in which no courses meet your specifications. Adjust your search terms and search again as needed.

4g. Course Brochure Review & Purchase

Each course has its own set of details:

  • Title, Sponsor, Classification, Location & Overview - the Course Title, Classification, Live and Replay Dates are listed, as is a short summary of the topic to be covered during the presentation of the course.
  • Description - a detailed schedule of events complete with Time, Topic, Speaker, and Break information is presented (Note that for some seminars, you'll also see a .pdf of the same information ready to download).
  • Credit Information - given the complexity of some course credit awards, a section is provided that allows Members to view information regarding hours, certification, split, etc. in detail.
  • Locations, Course Book, Audio/Videotapes - in this section, the Member must select the occurrence of the course he wishes to attend or purchase (audio or video). It's very important for you to be specific and make sure you have specified the proper Date and/or Location before continuing.
Click Register to continue with course registration. Click Cancel to change your mind regarding this particular course.

On the following screen, you will be shown details regarding the incidence of the course you've chosen - Location, Directions, URL - and will be given the opportunity to choose the Price best associated with your status. Note that if your status by definition entitles you to a reduced price, discounted prices appear onscreen. The system will only present those prices fitted to your Member Record data.

The last section allows for Members with disabilities to check a box and describe any special needs the Member may have re: attendance.

Once finished, click Add to Shopping Cart. To return to the listing of available courses without adding this particular course to your Shopping Cart, click Return to Catalog.

4h. Course Item Detail (Shopping Cart)

The Shopping Cart contains individual item details of your course (and other) purchases and the appropriate subtotal. If you wish to change any portion of your course selection (Location, Audio vs. Video, etc.), click Change to left of the item you wish to adjust. Once returned to your course brochure, make the change and re-click Add to Shopping Cart at the bottom of the form.

Once you have completed all desired changes and/or confirmed the accuracy of this particular course listing, you may do one of 3 things:

  • Click Checkout. This will take you to the payment page.
  • Click Resume Shopping to potentially add more courses to this individual Shopping Cart transaction or conduct other business during the current session. Note that Fee Payment may not be combined with non-Fee items within a single session.

Your existing Section memberships are selected. If you wish to join additional Sections/Divisions, simply click in the box to the left of the desired Section/Division. To remove pre-filled Section/Division memberships, click a checked box to uncheck. Once you click the desired boxes, you will see that the Total Section Dues box contains the total dollar amount associated with the selected Section/Divisions.

Several Sections have reduced fees for joint membership. When you select individual Sections that qualify for the discount, the fee form automatically re-selects the joint Section membership at the end of the list and records the discounted rate.

Note to CLER/BSCR Delinquent, Lawyer Regulation Delinquent, and/or Suspended Members

Delinquencies on your Member record prohibit you from joining sections. Address these delinquencies by contacting the appropriate department as noted on your fee form.

In this form section, review the following information: Prior Year Balance, Current Year Fees, Late Fees, Other Fees. Fees for the Sections/Divisions you specified are included in the Total amount.

The "I am a full-time Government employee" checkbox is available in this form section. Check this box if appropriate. If you require installment payments, you must use your paper form and mail with a check.

Note to CLER/BSCR Delinquent and/or Lawyer Regulation Delinquent Members

If you are currently CLER/BSCR delinquent, you will see a message in red that states same. At the end of that message, you are provided with a link to your current CLE status document for your review.

If you are Lawyer Regulation delinquent, and/or have associated Lawyer Regulation costs, you will see a) a message that notes your delinquency and provides a contact phone number, and b) an Other Costs amount immediately above the Total amount. To pay these Other Costs along with fees, continue with the fee form. To remove these Other Costs from your Total, you must click the "I do not wish to pay 'Other Costs' at this time" checkbox. Once that box is clicked, Other Costs are removed from your Total calculation. Note that removal of Other Costs from your Total using this method in no way affects the continued existence of these Costs with respect to your Member record.
