Position Description

POSITION TITLE:
Accounting Services Specialist - F & A Admin.
REPORTS TO:
Assistant Director Finance & Accounting
SUPERVISES THE FOLLOWING POSITIONS:
N/A
SUMMARY FUNCTION:
Responsible for various reconciliations and cost allocation calculations and journal entries. Assist in proper set-up of CLE and Section Service Programs in The Florida Bar (TFB) systems and processing of all refunds and adjustments to accounts receivable. This person will have frequent telephone contact with members and others as well as Florida Bar employees from other departments

Assists in review of cash in process/unclaimed orders and works with other departments to process funds received. Assists in processing refunds and debit/credit memos. Recommends procedural changes as warranted and assists with updating the Finance and Accounting Procedures database.

Assists in setting up new items and courses in TFB systems and updates records, as needed.

Prepares monthly administrative cost allocation calculation and assists with other allocation journal entries.

Reconciles and records all property and equipment in the Daprex system and runs depreciation reports.

Reviews daily suspended/holding file journals and determines what action should be taken to clear said items.

Responds to departmental inquiries as to The Florida Bar’s policies, accounting treatment or other reporting issues.

Acts as back-up for the payroll tax filing and payment, sales tax filing and payment.

Acts as a back-up for accounts payable processing.

Performs quality reviews of transactions to assist in ensuring that policies and procedures have been followed.

Performs other projects as needed.

-Bookkeeping and accounting and auditing practices and procedures

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE NEEDED FOR POSITION:
REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION:
- Bachelors degree (proof required at interview). Progressively responsible related experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis.

REQUIRED MINIMUM PROFESSIONAL WORK EXPERIENCE:
-Three years of responsible accounting fiscal or budgeting experience.

OTHER JOB RELATED REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION:
- Ability to sit for long periods
- Ability to lift boxes up to (10) pounds
- Use of hand truck
- May require flexible schedule and overtime at certain times of the year
- Proficient use of 10 key adding machine, personal computer, copy machine, telephone, and scanner.
