Position Description
POSITION TITLE:
SENIOR ATTORNEY - Lawyer Regulation Branches (* **See Additional Information if advertised position is for attorney or assistant attorney)
REPORTS TO:
Chief Branch Discipline Counsel
SUPERVISES THE FOLLOWING POSITIONS:
SUMMARY FUNCTION:
Acts as counsel at investigative, trial, and appellate levels of processing grievances against attorneys.

Prosecutes trials and appeals.
Completes all legal functions in disciplinary cases necessary to resolve trial and appellate level cases (including preparation of pleadings, conducting discovery, filing briefs, handling hearings before Court appointed referees, and making appearances before The Supreme Court of Florida).

Provides counsel to grievance committees.
Reports committee decisions to dismiss or dismiss with a letter of advice.
Supervises efforts to recommend diversion or admonishment.
Initiates formal disciplinary proceedings as directed.

Conducts investigation of complaints alleging violations of the Rules Regulating The Florida Bar.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE NEEDED FOR POSITION:

REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION / LICENSURE:
-- Florida Bar Member in Good Standing

REQUIRED MINIMUM PROFESSIONAL WORK EXPERIENCE:
-- Three (3) years legal experience as an attorney in (1) effective case management, (2) trials, (3) pre-trial matters, and (4) development of trial strategy
