Position Description
POSITION TITLE:
Assistant Director - Accounting, Finance & Accounting
REPORTS TO:
Director, Finance & Accounting
SUPERVISES THE FOLLOWING POSITIONS:
Accounting Analyst; Accounting Services Specialist (3); Fiscal Specialist / Assistant (2)
SUMMARY FUNCTION:
Directs the daily accounting operations of the F&A Department.

Supervises the daily processing of accounts payable and employee expense reports. Recommends policy or procedural changes when warranted.

Supervises the daily cash management function. Prepares daily recommendations to buy or sell short term investments, insuring a proper liquidity is maintained. Oversees that all bank reconciliations are timely prepared and properly approved.

Directs the Cost Allocation systems of TFB. Consults with Director and makes recommendations to the Division Director, Administration, and Information Technology for the improvement of the various cost allocation systems.

Prepares periodic financial statements for internal, Board, and external users. Monitors expenditures versus budget and addresses significant variances. Advises Director of any noted variances.

Supervises the accounting of TFB investment portfolio.

Approves and posts all journal entries to the general ledger. Alerts Director of developing issues.

Supervises the accounting of fixed assets.

Assists the Director in completing the department's budget responsibilities. Prepares budget request for assigned responsibilities.

Assists the Director in the coordination of staff interaction with the various audits engaged.

Recommends hiring and discipline for staff assigned to this work unit and completes employee performance evaluations as required. Develops and administers a staff development plan for F&A staff assigned to the unit.

Performs other projects as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES NEEDED TO PERFORM SATISFACTORILY:

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE NEEDED FOR POSITION:

REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION / LICENSURE:
-- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting (proof of degree required at interview)
-- Possession of a CPA certificate (certificate required at interview)

REQUIRED MINIMUM PROFESSIONAL WORK EXPERIENCE:
-- Five (5) years of accounting experience
-- Three (3) years of supervisory experience
