POSITION TITLE: | LEGAL SECRETARY - Lawyer Regulation (Branch) |
REPORTS TO: | Branch Office Manager / Attorney |
SUPERVISES THE FOLLOWING POSITIONS: | n/a |
SUMMARY FUNCTION: | This is highly responsible work performing a variety of duties by providing administrative and secretarial assistance to Branch attorneys. |

60 | Types pleadings and correspondence. |
15 | Sets up monthly grievance committee meetings. |
10 | Updates filing system, calendar, scanning, and other administrative matters. |
5 | Answers telephone and written inquiries. |
5 | Monitors status of files assigned to attorney. |
5 | Receives and routes incoming mail. |
| KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES NEEDED TO PERFORM SATISFACTORILY: |
Knowledge of: -- Correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar -- Standard business formats and styles -- Basic filing procedures Skilled in: -- MS Word -- Data entry -- Professional telephone etiquette -- Basic arithmetic Ability to: -- Type sixty (60) correct words per minute -- Type letters, memoranda, and other standard business forms in correct format -- Organize and prioritize work -- Demonstrate initiative in group projects and individual settings -- Tactfully manage difficult situations -- Communicate effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing -- Operate well under pressure and in a team atmosphere -- Consistently provide an excellent service oriented attitude |
| MINIMUM EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE NEEDED FOR POSITION: |
REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION: -- High School Diploma (or its equivalency) REQUIRED MINIMUM PROFESSIONAL WORK EXPERIENCE: -- Five (5) years of progressively responsible secretarial experience ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: -- Must type at least sixty (60) correct words per minute |
