    Florida Bar bestows 51st Annual Media Awards

    The Florida Bar honored five media organizations as grand prize winners in the 51st Annual Media Awards competition to recognize excellence in legal reporting Thursday, Nov. 30. Two other media organizations were also selected as honorable mentions. For more about the award-winning reports, see the news release.


    This year’s grand prize winners are The Miami Herald and The Florida Times-Union (newspapers and other periodicals with circulation more than 50,000), The Villages Daily Sun (newspapers and other periodicals with circulation less than 50,000), WTSP-TV of St. Petersburg (television), and WUSF of Tampa (radio). Honorable mentions are awarded to The Daytona Beach News-Journal and The Daily Business Review.
    Winners of the 51st Annual Media Awards were recognized Thursday, Nov. 30, 2006, at a ceremony on the 22nd floor of the Capitol at The Florida Bar’s Reporters Workshop.     Forrest Norman, Miami-Dade County law reporter for the Daily Business Review, and Kenya Woodard of the Daytona Beach News-Journal, accept awards for Honorable Mention from Laura Jacobs, chair of The Florida Bar Media & Communications Law Committee, and Hank Coxe, president of The Florida Bar.
