Jazz for Justice slated for April in Tallahassee

Three music stages, a silent auction, a drawing for one week at a resort anywhere in the world, and knowing you are helping fund legal aid.

Jazz For Justice That’s the draw to lure you to downtown Tallahassee on April 19 for Jazz for Justice on the Adams Street Commons, an event to raise money for Legal Services of North Florida.

“It’s no secret that IOTA and other funding for legal services for the poor are way down, so please open your hearts and wallets to ensure equal justice for all,” says Tallahassee attorney and organizer Wendy Loquasto.

Jazz trumpeter Longineau Parsons opens the Main Stage at 3 p.m. for patrons and sponsors. Later, Latin Attitude and Daddy ’B and his seven-piece New Orleans jazz band will be featured on the Main Stage during the general event. In the “Jazz Club” inside Andrew’s Capital Bar & Grill, Dayve Stewart, jazz saxophonist, and Mavis Waters, jazz songstress from Baltimore, will provide a more relaxed jazz experience. The new “Blues Stage” in Gallie Alley will feature Randall “Big Daddy” Webster & Red Hot Java and Brett Wellman & The Stone Cold Blues Band, plus surprise guest artists joining the blues show.

The silent auction includes an array of “Fantasy Trips” (Sundance Film Festival, Ashville, Chicago, Austin, New York, British Manor Houses, Sailing Through the Keys, and Relaxing in the Caribbean). Check out the website for items already listed. Plus, there will be a drawing for one week at a resort anywhere in the world, for $5 per ticket, limited to 500 tickets.

Patron tickets are $100 for two early entry tickets, VIP champagne reception, and special Longineau Parsons performance. General admission tickets are $20 per person. Valet parking is available for a suggested $10 donation. Tickets are available at www.jazzforjustice.org.
