Gonzalez to lead HBACF

The Hispanic Bar Association of Central Florida installed its 2015 board of directors, to be led by President Luis Gonzalez of Holland & Knight.

Judge Carlos E. Mendoza administered the oath of installation to the new board, comprised of the following members:

* Henry Lim, president-elect

* Tiffany Faddis, ex-officio

* Irene Pons Meyers, secretary

* Nelson Llabona, treasurer

* Jessica Gonzalez-Monge, bylaws chair

* Camila Pachon-Silva, community relations chair

* Fermin Lopez, fundraising chair

* Edgar Lopez, government relations chair

* Luis Calderon, judicial relations chair

* Vanessa Cotto, membership chair

* Diego Puig, public relations chair

* Ana Lopez, voluntary bar liaison chair

* Christina Alvarez, young lawyers chair

Gonzalez declared that 2015 would be a year of service for the HBACF and announced the upcoming launch of the HBACF Foundation, a charitable organization “whose mission will be to lead the charitable and philanthropic efforts of our organization in our local community.”

According to Gonzalez, the community outreach efforts of the HBACF Foundation this year will focus on three organizations:

* The Greater Orlando Human Trafficking Task Force, whose mission is to defend, rescue, restore, and empower victims of human trafficking in Central Florida.

* The Camaraderie Foundation, which provides veterans and their families with healing for invisible wounds of war through counseling, and emotional and spiritual support.

* The Orange County Legal Aid Society, source of legal services for local low-income residents, the working poor, children, and disadvantaged groups with special legal needs.
