WILLIAM “BILL” GRANT, left, of the Law Office of Grant & Dozier in Inverness, is pictured with an official at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. He was a member of the delegation for USA Wrestling in Rio, as the chair of the Olympic Women’s Sport Committee, and the state chair of the Florida Amateur Wrestling Association. As a delegate, Grant assisted in operational oversight, including helping athletes and families with their needs overseas. He said going into a foreign facility can come with problems that need to be handled. “We need to be very careful in making sure we are very gracious with our hosts, while being able to still put our athletes in the position to be comfortable and prepare themselves for the ultimate competition,” he said. Grant has been all over the world officiating, from Japan to Europe to Russia to South America, and plans to go to Australia next year. He said wrestling is part of his DNA, and the athletes are American heroes. “It’s hard to articulate the Olympic spirit. I’m getting goosebumps just talking to you about it. It’s an amazing honor and privilege,” he said.
