Pro bono legal services clinic for nonprofits slated for Tallahassee

Regular News

On Wednesday, May 14, from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m., Tallahassee area attorneys, shadowed by students from The Florida State University College of Law, are joining together to provide free legal consultation to nonprofit organizations in the Big Bend.

The event is being organized by the Business Law Section’s Pro Bono Committee and the Florida Government Bar Association, with support from a Florida Bar diversity leadership grant. Co-sponsors include United Partners for Human Services, Legal Services of North Florida, Florida Legal Services, and the One Campaign.

The clinic will be held at the TCC Center for Workforce Development in conjunction with the UPHS 15th Annual Conference for Excellence in Nonprofit Management and Leadership. Free parking and refreshments will be provided.

Registration for the nonprofits will end April 25, after which volunteers will be notified of their nonprofit organization assignments and appointment times (in 45-minute increments). Volunteers will be provided appropriate forms for disclosure, waiver of any potential conflicts, and the like, and the volunteer services will be covered under malpractice insurance provided through Legal Services of North Florida, if necessary.
