Committee on Fairness and Diversity to meet with Florida A&M law students

Judge Scott M. Bernstein, chair of the Supreme Court Standing Committee on Fairness and Diversity, will address Florida A&M law students when the panel meets on the school’s Orlando campus February 15.

Judge Bernstein Judge Bernstein will share with the students the work of the committee and how it may partner with the law school on diversity initiatives, as well as allow for some interaction between students, faculty, and the standing committee members.

The Standing Committee on Fairness and Diversity was established to advance the state courts system’s efforts to eliminate from court operations bias based on race, gender, ethnicity, age, disability, socioeconomic status, or any characteristic that is without legal relevance.

The committee is heavily included in promoting public education of the court system and building partnerships and collaborations with local bars, community organizations, and law schools to institutionalize fairness and diversity and eliminate bias from court operations.
