She also presented “The Future of Health Care Reform in Florida” to women executives at the University of South Florida CAMLS facility.

Maria Elsa Espinosa of Fern Park has been appointed president of the board of directors of the Seminole County Bar Association Legal Aid Society.

Suzanne Driscoll of Shutts & Bowen in Ft. Lauderdale has been elected to the board of directors of HANDY.

Mark D. Adam B. Portnow of Law Office of Adam B. Portnow, P.L., in Sarasota completed the United States Patent and Trademark Office’s patent bar examination and application process, and is now licensed to practice before the USPTO in patent cases.

Luis J. Delgado of Lesser, Lesser, Landy & Smith in West Palm Beach has become president of the Palm Beach County Hispanic Bar Association.

Haley R. Maple of Marshall Dennehey Warner Coleman & Goggin in Tampa has become co-chair of the Communications Committee in the ABA Section of Litigation.

George F. Frank of Lavalle, Brown & Ronan in Boca Raton spoke on “Navigating the Homestead Trap” at the Boca Raton Chapter Paralegal Association of Florida Luncheon.

Curtis Alva, Tracy Nichols, and Louis Conti of Holland & Knight were speakers at Thomson Reuters’ Annual Federal Securities Institute in Miami. Alva spoke on “Delaware Law Developments.” Nichols discussed “SEC Enforcement and Private Litigation Developments.” Conti addressed “Private Equity, LBOs, Venture Capital.”

Dale Appell of Tampa presented to the Hillsborough County Bar Association’s Bench/Bar Conference on the topic, “Effective Marketing for Attorneys.”

Tom Scarritt of Scarritt Law Group in Tampa acted in a production that was awarded PBS Affiliate WEDU’s 2013 “Be More” Special Events Award for Entertainment in the Tampa Bay Area. Scarritt played three different characters in staged readings of the Broadway success Sylvia, which raised over $11,000 to benefit Hillsborough at-risk youth.

Nick Mizell of Cheffy Passidomo in Naples has been appointed to the Local Rules Advisory Committee of the U.S. District Court, Middle District of Florida.

Christopher S. Knopik of Tampa was recognized by the Tampa Bay Chapter of the Federal Bar Association as the recipient of the George C. Carr Memorial Award for 2012.

Michelle R. Suskauer of Suskauer Law Firm in West Palm Beach was honored by the National Conference of Jewish Women as its 2013 Women in Power awardee.
