KAREN FRANCE, executive director of the Clearwater Bar Association, was chosen to receive the Marshall R. Cassedy Award that honors and recognizes the legacy and attributes of Marshall Royal Cassedy, Sr., who served with great distinction as executive director of The Florida Bar from 1961-80. “Karen has served the Clearwater Bar for 18 years. Her long tenure with the Clearwater Bar has been marked by great strides and improvements and now has more than 900 members and includes many events and projects,” immediate past Bar President Eugene Pettis said in presenting the award. “ I was fortunate to participate in one of the projects she was instrumental in developing and continues to be devoted to — the Student Leadership Internship program. Each year Karen works to find placements for high school students who express an interest in the law but with the challenges they face, would not otherwise have the opportunity."
