Minority Mentoring Picnic set for Hialeah February 4

The 13th Annual Minority Mentoring Picnic has moved from a fall fest to a winter event and will be held Saturday, February 4, starting at noon at the Amelia Earhart Park, located in Hialeah.

There will be a new entrance to the picnic, at Palm Avenue at 65th Street, in order to offer better accommodation for those with disabled parking permits.

“We thought the weather would be better and students would be more relaxed starting the second semester, than in early November when preparing for finals,” said Miami lawyer John Kozyak, founder of the picnic billed as the “ultimate networking event” for minority law students and Florida lawyers and judges.

“I don’t think it could be more apparent, based upon recent events, that the battle for inclusion and diversity is far from over,” Kozyak said. “Every minority law student needs our support. The Kozyak Minority Mentoring Foundation is redoubling its efforts.”

In past years, as many as 3,800 law students, lawyers, and judges gathered from all over Florida to the picnic that matches students with mentors.

Although the picnic is free, there is a $20 fee per car for parking. The picnic is a family-friendly event, with an entire section dedicated to children with rock-climbing walls, ring toss, games, face-painting, and much more. A diverse array of food will be served.
