Certification application deadline nears

Florida Bar members interested in board certification must have applications postmarked by the end of August for 12 of 24 legal specialization areas in Florida.

Applications are available at www.FloridaBar.org/certification, and are due August 31 for the following specialties:

* Admiralty and Maritime Law

* Adoption Law

* Appellate Practice

* Aviation Law

* Civil Trial

* Immigration and Nationality

* International Law

* Education Law

* Elder Law

* Labor and Employment Law

* Marital and Family Law

* Tax Law

Board certified attorneys are the only Florida lawyers allowed to identify themselves as “specialists” or “experts” or to use the letters “B.C.S.” to indicate Board Certified Specialist when referring to their legal credentials.

A second round of certification applications are due October 31 for the following specialties:

* Antitrust and Trade Regulation

* Business Litigation

* City, County and Local Government

* Construction Law

* Criminal Appellate

* Criminal Trial

* Health Law

* Intellectual Property Law

* Real Estate

* State and Federal Government and Administrative Practice

* Wills, Trusts and Estates

* Workers’ Compensation
