David E. Sacks of Pathman Lewis in Miami has been appointed by the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce as co-chair of its new law council.

Christopher L. Carmody, Jr., of GrayRobinson in Orlando has been appointed regional vice president of the University of Florida Alumni Association, overseeing Charlotte, Lee, Highlands, Sarasota, and Manatee counties.

Jennifer G. Roeper of Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick in Tampa has been elected to the board of directors of the Tampa Bay Technology Forum.

Karen Yochim of Alba & Dubose in Gainesville spoke as a faculty member on the topic of estate planning for the disabled at Trusts 101, a seminar organized by the National Business Institute.

Douglas A. Peebles of Bradenton received the Community Service Leader Award from the Manatee County Bar Association.

Liam McGivern of Legal Services of Greater Miami spoke on the process for proving that a veteran who received a less than an honorable discharge can have that designation upgraded by proving the discharge designation was improper or inequitable, and the requirements for being granted an upgrade at a nationwide training on Military Discharge Upgrades.

Patricia A. Petruff of Dye, Deitrich, Petruff & St. Paul in Bradenton received the William C. Grimes Award for Lifetime Achievement in Community Service Manatee County Bar Association.

Jason Wolf of Koch Parafinczuk & Wolf in Ft. Lauderdale was appointed to the Construction Industry Licensing Board.

Ronald Lieberman of Salmon & Dulberg Dispute Resolution in Miami was elected to the board of directors of the Association of South Florida Mediators and Arbitrators.

Stephen A. Smith of Law Offices of Stephen A. Smith in Jacksonville was installed as president of the D.W. Perkins Bar Association.

Gerald A. Rosenthal of Rosenthal, Levy, Simon & Ryles in West Palm Beach gave an overview of the significant aspects of the Affordable Care Act and how each affects workers’ compensation to the American Association for Justice in Baltimore.

Scott Richman of McDonald Toole Wiggins in Orlando received the Leadership Award from the Jewish Community Center of Greater Orlando after completing his two-year term as president of its board of directors.
