Shannon Sheppard has been promoted to equity shareholder at Smolker, Bartlett, Schlosser, Loeb & Hinds in Tampa concentrating in real estate and property rights representation.

Kamilah L. Perry joined The Perry Group as a partner, opening the law firm’s Tampa branch. Perry will focus on labor and employment law, as well as civil litigation, bankruptcy, and real estate.

Dr. Christopher M. Ramsey has joined GrayRobinson in Orlando in the firm’s intellectual property and technology practice. Ramsey focuses on chemistry and biotechnology, and also handles computer software, optics, materials science, mechanical devices, medical devices, and nanotechnology patents.

Thomas J. Tollefsen was made senior associate at Kistemaker Business Law Group in Daytona Beach. Tollefsen’s practice includes commercial litigation, construction litigation, and HOA/condominium law.

Brandy A. Benesch was made junior associate at Kistemaker Business Law Group in Daytona Beach. Benesch focuses on business, commercial, HOA/condominium, landlord/tenant, trademark, and copyright law.

Sharon Carlstedt Britton has joined Phelps Dunbar in Tampa in the firm’s litigation group. Britton focuses on general commercial and complex litigation, particularly in the areas of intellectual property, entertainment, contract, professional liability, health care, and securities.

Susan Cardenas has joined GrayRobinson in Key West. Cardenas focuses on real estate transactions, including financing, leasing, acquisition, and sale transactions.

Kelly Overstreet Johnson has joined Baker Donelson as the managing shareholder of the firm’s new Tallahassee office. Also joining the office are Dena H. Sokolow and Russell B. Buchanan. Overstreet Johnson handles a variety of cases in commercial real estate and employment discrimination defense matters. Sokolow also joins as shareholder and as a member of the labor and employment group. Buchanan joins as an associate in the business litigation group, where he focuses his practice on real estate, bankruptcy, and litigation.

Becker & Poliakoff has opened a new office in South St. Augustine. The firm is leaving offices in Palm Coast where it has been headquartered for eight years. The new office at Whetstone Place in South St. Augustine will focus on the representation of condominium, homeowners’, cooperative, and other common-interest realty associations.

Terrance A. Bostic has joined Marshall Dennehey Warner Coleman & Goggin in Tampa as special counsel and member of the professional liability department. He focuses on securities litigation, white collar criminal defense, and commercial litigation matters.

Charles E. Simpson has become an assistant public defender in the Clay County office of the Fourth Circuit Public Defender.

Daniel S. Benchimol has become an assistant public defender in the Nassau County office of the Fourth Circuit Public Defender.

Zachary M. Altenbach has become an assistant public defender in the Fourth Circuit Public Defender’s Duval County Office.

Michael Barbieri has become an assistant public defender in the Fourth Circuit Public Defender’s Duval County Office.

Nia K. Maxwell has become an assistant public defender in the Fourth Circuit Public Defender’s Duval County Office.

Robert J. Becerra has formed Becerra Law, P.A., with offices at 1001 Brickell Bay Drive, Suite 1200, in Miami. He focuses civil and white collar criminal litigation in state and federal courts pertaining to international trade.

Shawn Hussain has joined Broad and Cassel in Boca Raton as an associate in the corporate and securities practice group.

Alec Schultz has joined León Cosgrove in Coral Gables as of counsel to the firm’s commercial litigation and appellate practice groups. Schultz focuses on the litigation of complex commercial transactions, antitrust disputes, employment matters, and privacy law actions.

Colby Hearn has joined Johnson, Pope, Bokor, Ruppel & Burns in its Tampa and St. Petersburg offices. Hearn focuses on business and commercial litigation, bankruptcy litigation, and debtor/creditor rights.

Craig Taraszki has joined Johnson, Pope, Bokor, Ruppel & Burns in St. Petersburg in the real estate group.

Joshua J. Day has joined Kelley Kronenberg in Orlando. Day focuses on general liability and workers’ comp defense.

Kelly A. Thompson has joined Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick in Tampa as an associate in the health law department.

Marni M. Scuderi has joined Blount Law, in Naples as an associate handling general counsel and civil litigation matters.

Rinaldo J. Cartaya has joined Kubicki Draper in Orlando where he will focus on automobile, negligent security, government, premises, professional, and product liability matters.

Adam M. Lusthaus has joined Greenspoon Marder in Cypress Creek in the wills, trusts, and estates department. Lusthaus concentrates on estate planning, probate and trust administration, business succession and tax planning, and tax-exempt organizations.

Matan A. Scheier has joined Katz, Barron, Squitero, Faust, Friedberg, English & Allen in Miami as an associate. Scheier focuses on complex corporate and commercial litigation, including real estate and business disputes. He also counsels clients on litigation avoidance and alternative dispute resolution strategies.

Matthew Armstrong has joined Broad and Cassel in Orlando as an associate in the corporate and securities practice group. His practice focuses on public and private securities transactions, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, roll-ups, and private investments.

Miles A. McGrane III has joined Salmon & Dulberg Dispute Resolution as a mediator. He will mediate in all of its South Florida offices and statewide.

Christopher Knopik of Tampa has become chief trial counsel for the Laser Spine Institute.

Kara M. Jursinski has been named a partner of The Law Office of Kevin F. Jursinski & Associates in Southwest Florida. Jursinski focises on commercial litigation, commercial leasing, construction litigation, foreclosure defense, short sale negotiations, and loan modifications.

Todd R. Dobry has joined Ward Damon in West Palm Beach as an associate. Dobry focuses on zoning, land use, comprehensive planning, and permitting issues. Dobry also acts as an advisor for new businesses, as well as modifying current corporate structures.

Glenn Burhans, Jr., and Bridget Kellogg Smitha have joined Stearns Weaver Miller Weissler Alhadeff & Sitterson in Tallahassee as litigation shareholders. Burhans focuses on
class actions, governmental investigations, election law, and administrative proceedings, and conducts internal investigations and compliance audits. Smitha focuses on liquor licensure, corporate defense, and complex commercial litigation.
