BOG: Board Committee Preference

December 10, 2018

Appointments to Board Committees will begin soon.  I am writing to learn your preferences for next year’s Board Committees.  Please access the Board Committee Preference Form, which needs to be completed online and submitted by January 15, 2019.  Please include any comments you wish for me to consider when making committee appointments.

Most appointments are one-year terms, but the Audit, Investment and Program Evaluation Committees are two-year terms: and the Certification Plan Appeals Committee is a three-year term.  The Budget and Legislation Committees have staggered terms, and the incoming President-Elect Designate will make the three, three-year appointments to each of those committees. Your interests will also be forwarded to the President-Elect Designate by completing this form.

In addition to the Board Committees, you will also be selecting your preferences for liaison assignments to the Standing Committees and Sections.  It is absolutely critical that you agree to attend the meetings, of the assigned committee or section and be familiar with the group’s activities to keep the Board informed.  It is also important for you to keep the committee, section or division informed as to the Board of Governors’ activities and upcoming issues. Engagement with our members in this way is one of our foremost responsibilities.

I appreciate the opportunity to serve as your President during the coming year and look forward to working with each and every one of you. I am thankful for the commitment that each of you make to the advancement of the profession, The Florida Bar and the citizens of Florida.

Sincerely,
John Steward First name
