Definition

State and federal government and administrative practice is the practice of law on behalf of public or private clients on matters including but not limited to rulemaking or adjudication associated with state or federal government entity actions such as contracts, licenses, orders, permits, policies, or rules. State and federal government and administrative practice also includes appearing before or presiding as an administrative law judge, arbitrator, hearing officer, or member of an administrative tribunal or panel over a dispute involving an administrative or government action.

Board Certification Applications for Lawyers

All applicants for board certification or recertification should carefully read the Rules Regulating The Florida Bar (Rules) and be sure you have met each of the requirements prior to filing your application.  Unless the Rules provide for a waiver of a specific requirement, each of the requirements must be met by the dates indicated in the rule.  There is a link to the Rules located below on this page.

Currently Certified?  Recertification Information for 2019:

If you were originally certified in 1989, 1994, 1999, 2004, 2009, or 2014 you are due to file your recertification application in 2019.  The application for recertification must be postmarked by July 31, 2019.  All requirements for recertification are to be completed by this date unless you submit a recertification file extension request.

Get Certified – Seeking Certification

The filing period for the initial application opens September 1, 2019.  Applications must be postmarked by October 31, 2019.  You must apply in this filing period to be considered for eligibility for the 2020 exam.  If you’re eligible from a previous application, you may also file the short application. Carefully read the rules for initial certification to determine if you will meet the requirements.
