Mission

Florida Bar seal with green ribbon in the background and the words, Mental Health and Wellness of Florida Lawyers Committee

The Mental Health & Wellness of Florida Lawyers Committee works to:

  • destigmatize mental illness in the legal profession;
  • educate employers, judges and lawyers how to identify and address mental health illness of Florida lawyers;
  • create best practices on how to address mental health issues that impact the legal profession;
  • educate lawyers about the benefits of balancing personal life and career obligations and how those benefits impact the practice of law;
  • provide health and wellness programs that help Florida lawyers deal with the pressures of their practices;
  • educate voluntary bar associations on mental health and wellness programs so they may better assist lawyers at a local level;
  • develop new and innovative CLE on mental health and wellness issues pertaining to the practice of law;
  • interface with Florida Lawyer’s Assistance, Inc. to broaden their reach to all members, not just those members facing bar grievance issues; and
  • create a special, interdisciplinary committee to study and improve The Florida Bar’s rules and programming related to mental health and wellness of Florida lawyers and to ensure that members can access needed services.
