Overview:

The Florida Gaming Control Commission (FGCC) is responsible for exercising all regulatory and executive powers of the state with respect to legal gaming, including pari-mutuel wagering, cardrooms, slot machine facilities, oversight of gaming compacts, and other forms of gambling authorized by state law, excluding the Lottery. The Commission also directly enforces Florida’s gaming laws and combats illegal gambling activities.

The mission of the FGCC is to preserve and protect the integrity of gaming through fair regulation, licensing, effective investigation, and enforcement.

Position Responsibilities:

The Office of General Counsel provides legal counsel across all matters under the Commission’s jurisdiction and prosecutes noncompliance with Florida’s gambling laws.

As a Senior Attorney in the Litigation Unit, you will play a key role in administrative and civil litigation, including:

  • Advising the Commission on complex legal issues involving permitting, licensure, and compliance with Florida gambling laws
  • Conducting legal research
  • Drafting charging documents, motions, and appellate briefs
  • Engaging in motion practice
  • Representing the Commission in administrative and civil courts
  • Presenting cases before the Commission at scheduled meetings

This position operates under the supervision of a Chief Attorney.

Required Qualifications:

  • Admission to The Florida Bar and at least two years of professional experience in legal practice, research, teaching law, or in administrative or judicial hearings
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
