On the Move

Upchurch Watson White & Max added eight mediators in South Florida and has opened offices in Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade counties. Charles (Chuck) Tetunic, who joins the firm as a shareholder, and five others will be based in the new Plantation office as mediation counsel, including Judith A. (Judy) Bass, Dominic (Dom) Brandy, Alvin Capp, Samuel Heller, and Bob Zwicky. David Krathen is also relocating to the new Plantation office at Suite 410 of the Royal Palm II at Southpointe, 900 S. Pine Island Road. Charles A. (Chuck) Mancuso is joining the mediation firm and will be based at the new West Palm Beach office, Suite 541, of Clearlake Executive Suites, 500 Australian Ave. South. William (Bill) Zei has joined the firm and intends to continue with his South Florida clients for now and gradually transition to an area nearer to his home in Tallahassee. Upchurch Watson White & Max’s new Miami office will take the place of its current location in Miami’s Sabadell Financial Center. The doors of Suite 507 of the Biscayne Building, 19 W. Flagler St., open November 4. As a result of the move, UWWM principal Rodney A. Max will be based at this new office as well as in Birmingham, Ala.

Sheba Abraham joined Goldberg, Racila, D’Alessandro & Noone in Ft. Myers. Abraham will practice personal injury law.

Daniel A. Espino joined Weiss Serota Helfman Pastoriza Cole & Boniske in the Miami-Dade office as an associate in the local government division, land use and zoning group, and government affairs and procurement group. He also will serve as an assistant town attorney in Medley.

Adam Weisholtz of Boca Raton was appointed as special assistant United States attorney in the Southern District of Florida. He will serve in the Miami office.

Christopher D. Brown joined Beasley & Demos in Miami. Brown focuses on a range of tort defense areas, including products liability, construction, professional liability, and aviation, as well as employment law and commercial litigation.

Nicolette Kramer became a senior associate at The Association Law Firm in Orlando.

Robert Griscti and Jennifer Lester joined Dean, Mead & Bovay in Gainesville. Griscti and Lester each serve as of counsel, mutually overseeing the office’s business litigation practice. Griscti’s practice focuses on appellate law, professional licensing, government investigations, civil litigation, and regulatory compliance. Lester focuses on commercial litigation, personal injury, wrongful death, and fiduciary proceedings.

Charles H. Kaplan joined Sills Cummis & Gross in New York as a member of the employment and labor practice group.

Teresa J. “Teri” Sopp became senior lead counsel for the Office of Criminal Conflict and Civil Regional Counsel, First DCA Region in Tallahassee.

Dina A. Keever joined McCabe Rabin in West Palm Beach as senior counsel. Keever will handle complex civil and criminal matters and will concentrate on qui tam “whistleblower” actions.

Eric John Vasquez joined Bond, Schoeneck & King in Naples as a partner in the litigation department. His practice areas include complex commercial/business litigation, catastrophic personal injury, wrongful death, employment-related matters, summary administrative proceedings, and civil rights.

Leonard P. Haberman joined The Law Offices of Craig Goldenfarb in West Palm Beach. Haberman focuses on medical malpractice and general personal injury.

Joseph R. Young joined Smith, Currie & Hancock in Ft. Lauderdale. Young will focus his practice in the area of construction litigation.

Nicholas H. Ceavers joined Smith, Currie & Hancock in Ft. Lauderdale as an associate. His practice is focused on construction litigation.

Kayla Richmond joined Henderson, Franklin, Starnes & Holt in Ft. Myers as an associate in the divorce, marital, and family law practice area.

Bill Edwards joined Broad and Cassel in Tampa as of counsel in the commercial litigation, labor and employment, and corporate and securities practice groups.

R. Quincy Bird joined Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick in Tampa as an associate in the commercial litigation department. Bird’s practice focuses on bankruptcy, insolvency, and creditors’ rights.

Scott N. Brown joined Bast Amron in Miami as a partner. Brown focuses primarily on creditors’ rights, bankruptcy litigation, commercial litigation, and business reorganization.

Robert Lewis, Marbet Lewis, and Valerie Haber joined Akerman Senterfitt in Miami. Robert Lewis joins as a shareholder and will chair the alcohol beverage industry group. Marbet Lewis joins as a shareholder and focuses on the laws governing the alcohol industry and the manufacture, importation, and sale of alcohol beverage products. Haber joins as an associate and focuses on the laws governing alcohol, tobacco, and other regulated products.

Jeremy M. Halpern joined Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick in Tampa as an associate in the banking and financial institutions department. Halpern focuses on corporate finance and banking.

Laura McDonald Dennis joined the Radey Law Firm in Tallahassee as an associate. Dennis focuses on administrative, litigation, and appellate law for regulated industries.

Edilsa Ruiz and Lucilo Ramos, Jr., joined Avila Rodriguez Hernandez Mena & Ferri in Coral Gables as a new associate and senior counsel, respectively. Ruiz will be working in the corporate and financial services group with a concentration on mergers and acquisitions, as well as international and cross-border transactions in the United States and throughout Latin America. Ramos will be working in the firm’s real estate practice area.
