THE YOUNG LAWYERS DIVISION made a donation of $2,058 to The Florida Bar Foundation in January. During July, the division agreed to give $1 to the Foundation for every new like on its Facebook page and that of its Law Student Division, as well as every new follower of the two entities on Twitter. “All of the praise for this incredible feat goes to our technology chairs, Zack Zuroweste and Gordon Glover, who brainstormed the fabulous idea to have this campaign benefit the Foundation, and our newsletter chairs, Lindsay Tygart and Bert Wohn, who had the tenacity to announce the campaign their second day as newly appointed governors of our board,” said YLD President Melanie Griffin. The gift from the social media campaign came on the heels of the YLD’s second consecutive $100,000 gift to the Foundation in two years. Foundation President John Patterson said the YLD has shown tremendous leadership in supporting the Foundation’s efforts to increase private funding in the midst of an extended slump in revenue from Florida’s IOTA program that has caused cuts to legal aid grants.
