FLORIDA STATE LAW STUDENTS joined nearly 4,000 other lawyers, judges, and law students from across the state at the 13th Annual Minority Mentoring Picnic February 4 at the Amelia Earhart Park in Hialeah. “We had more law schools and lawyer associations participating than ever before, and I believe that we did a better job of helping make matches by using judges and lawyers as ambassadors,” said John Kozyak, whose Kozyak Minority Mentoring Foundation puts on the event. “The students met many interested lawyers and judges who care about their success. It was a good day for all who are interested in diversity and inclusion.” Marlon A. Hill of Miami, who serves on the Kozyak Minority Mentoring Foundation’s board, said it’s critical that law students be afforded an opportunity to interact with lawyers and judges in informal social settings outside of courtrooms and boardrooms. “Our mentoring picnic fosters personal relationships that form meaningful bonds for generations,” Hill said.
